A chance encounter with visitors to Provence

In Real Holidays we meet people from all over the world, who have one thing in common: they vacation in Provence! We asked them a few questions.

With all these bikes around us, it seems a stupid question to ask: why you are here?

We're here for the annual Harley-Davidson ralley.This year in the south of Provence around Grimaud from 17-21 May. Today in the village for a get-together.

Where are you staying?

In a hotel in Le Lavandou. We love the area, especially the coastal route from Hyères to Grimaud. Now, still out of season, it's a wonderful road to ride.

Have you been to Provence before?

A few times, always motorcycling. We look for special roads, away from the usual.

Such as?

We prefer the region more to the north, above the Autoroute. Yesterday we made a trip around the Grand Canyon, the Gorges du Verdon. It was magical. We always look for magical roads.

Other suggestions?

The road from La Mole to the coast, or the one from Grimaud to Collobrières through the Maures mountains. Fantastic!

Anything not magical?

We don't care for places such as Nice, Cannes, Marseille, even Saint-Tropez. They've lost it.

Provence is a good place for the ralley?

Yes. The weather has been great. Last year in Spain it was just downpours. The people here have been very hospitable. In general, there's no problem with the language. We speak French and that helps. And the food!
