Travel info:

ViaMichelin is the site of the famous guides, with additional help on itineraries, maps and up-to-date information. It won't replace the green or red guides, but nevertheless provides a wealth of information.

Mappy.com: an excellent way to check itineraries or addresses in any town in Europe.

Restaurants:

Le Berger du Temps is a warm and inviting restaurant in Beaune (Burgundy). Though not situated in Provence, it is a favorite with travelers on the way to the South of France, whether from Northern Europe or Paris. Meals are prepared in the wood-burning ovens.

 

Sites on Southern France:

Beyond the Riviera is a comprehensive site, full of information on Provence villages and culture. It covers the area away from the touristy coast.

La Garde-Freinet is a charming village in the Var departement. In this official site you find plenty of information, even an extensive list of local, private rentals.

Provence.pagina and Cotedazur.pagina are two Dutch pages chockful of links to web sites on the region.

Provence in 6 by 6 a web site designed to lead you to the ruins, buildings, and sites that are so picturesque when photographed with a medium-format camera.

News in Print:

Nice Matin (or Var Matin) is the newspaper for the Alpes-Maritimes, Corsica and the Var. Great for checking out the weather.

Le Provencal is the newspaper for the region away from the coast.

Riviera Reporter is the on-line version of a UK magazine that caters to English-speaking expats and others interested in the Riviera region.

Cuisine and Other Specialties:

Le Meilleur du Chef is an excellent site (in French) about the secrets of French cooking, in pictures, text, and video!

Gourmet seeker offers a search engine for recipes.
